Hard to believe it will be 7 years since Dimebag Darrel was shot and killed in a club in Columbus, OH. I still remember the days when Pantera was a Hair Metal Cover band in Dallas...then it all changed and I was hooked...Cowboys From Hell arrived. The riffs from Darrel made it all come together as a bombastic explosion.

and it only got better. By this point, I had the old school speakers in the car, that i blew immediately on buying Vulgar Display of Power

And then I got married and drover my now ex-wife off with my repeated playing of Far Beyond Driven.

Now that my personal journey of Pantera is over here, I want to take a moment and remember the work of Darrel Abbot, as there is a tribute in his name coming up which ties in another fallen Rock legend Ronnie James Dio. It is the Dimebag Darrel Bash, where all proceeds from the event will benefit the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund (click the hyper-link to find out more and how you can help fight cancer.)

What is so cool about this is, Darrel's life was tragically taken, but by working with Wendy Dio and her husband's foundation, his death was not in vain.
