One of rock's most comic-friendly legends will return to the printed page this fall, when Alice Cooper stars in a new series from Dynamite Entertainment.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the latest Cooper comic -- titled simply 'Alice Cooper' -- "recasts the rock legend as the guardian of humanity’s dreams." Due to debut in September, it's being written by 'X-Files' writer Joe Harris, with art by Eman Casallos ('Jennifer Blood,' 'The Ninjettes'). It'll serve as the latest of Cooper's several stints as a comic book star, following his '70s appearances in Marvel's 'Marvel Premiere' series and Neil Gaiman's '90s miniseries 'Alice Cooper: The Last Temptation.'

"Artistically, for me there is hardly a better medium," Cooper enthused in a press release. "There is so much you can do in the form of a comic that we'd never been able to do onstage. It's just a different way of storytelling, and it really has almost limitless possibilities. We're looking forward to stretching the existing boundaries of the comic medium again. We have new stories to tell, but we'll do it with the same theatrical, sinister sensibility that comes with the name 'Alice Cooper.' This is just the beginning! Welcome to my new nightmares!"

Cooper discussed his lifelong love of comics in a 1999 interview, quipping that "the best thing about being a comic book hero is they give you great abs" and adding, "When I was a kid, I used to have literally boxes of comic books. Literally thousands of them, which of course are all gone now. Comic books, in the summertime when you were out of school, were your life; that's all you did, you read comic books all day. So being in one, that was a big privilege to me."
