If you haven't been watching the news, the tension between the state of Texas and the drug cartels of Mexico are escalating at an alarming rate. Now illegal aliens and drug runners alike are running farmers off their land at the U S/Mexican border on the Rio Grande and that could affect Americas abundant food supply which is a threat to our nation's security. As I type this article, President Obama and President Calderon of Mexico are making a live announcement to officially take down the cartels that threaten both the people of the United States and Mexico. Thousands of illegals cross the Mexican border every week and even though our border patrol does what they can to stop them, it is an impossibility to catch all of them and the drug industry for the cartels selling their supply in the states has become a multi-billion dollar a year industry. Thousands of murders have been committed by these cartels including some on American citizens. What my question is is why has it taken this long? We have seen  many illegals cross into this country unscathed and we have seen an increase in drug activity and now we are deciding to act. I heard one person say that we have bigger fish to fry with the Middle East and the economy. I have this to respond with. With as much press and attention the border issue has caused don't you think that Al Qaeda and the Taliban have seen this as well? It's not like it's some big secret that only the United States and Mexico know about. Not to come off as a racist but if a terrorist from the Middle East was to dress like another Mexican illegal, you really wouldn't be able to tell the difference. And with the large quantities of drugs the cartels are smuggling over, how hard do you think it would be to smuggle of a nuclear weapon. I for one think that they have already capitalized on that situation and they have sleepers placed all over the country, awaiting a strike order. It may sound like I'm paranoid and what I just said may sound like some giant conspiracy theory but it's not completely unrealistic to assume. I hope they do crack down on the border situation for the sake of National Security. My only problem with it is is that we may be too late.
