Since 2010, families living on Barksdale Air Force Base have been able to choose any Bossier High School for their children.  Now, after Thursday's unanimous decision by the Bossier Parish School Board, that choice is open to all school age children who live on the base.

The Shreveport Times reports that after U.S. District Judge Maurice Hicks signed off on the parish's ability to make the ruling, it was approved by everyone in a move that will allow the roughly 400 students the ability to pick the school, and curriculum that suits them best.  In the case of athletics eligibility, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association will handle each student on a case by case basis.

In order to take advantage of this program, parents must be able to provide transportation to and from the school.  They must also fill out and turn in this form by Tuesday, August 2nd  (which is also the first day of school).   Barksdale parents are also encouraged to attend the Back to School Open House at the Buff Event Center - planned for July 24th, starting at 4pm.
