Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover ordered the city government offices closed for Wednesday (Feb. 12) following a winter storm that affected northern Louisiana.

Glover's decision to close Shreveport due to the inclement winter weather followed several closings by Caddo and Bossier parish schools. In addition, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development shut down I-220, along with sections of I-49, Benton Road and Highway 154.

Glover also confirmed via his Twitter account that SporTran service ended for the day at 6 p.m and won't operate at all on Wednesday, Feb. 12. SWEPCO has said that some 8,700 people across northwest Louisiana and East Texas have lost power as a result of the winter storm.
