It's easy to blame all of the coughing and sneezing going on here in the Ark-La-Tex on pollen and allergies, but we just got word that yet another school (Atkins Elementary) is going to be closing it's doors tomorrow to disinfect and sanitize the facility because of a 24% rate of absence by both students, teachers and support staff alike. That's not just allergies, that's being sick!

Of course, the normal things apply when it comes to avoiding cold and the flu... Make sure you wash your hands frequently, when coughing or sneezing you should cover your mouth, etc... That's all well and good, but some of these bugs are persistent, so I decided to see what I could find on the interwebs to help out if you're down for the count.

I'm not sure about soaking your socks in cold water or sucking on lemons, but when you feel bad, anything is worth a try! As always, if you're exhibiting flu-like symptoms, you should stay home to avoid infecting others. You should also consult a physician whenever ill.
