LSUS Political Science Professor Dr. Jeff Sadow talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright about the possibility of gaming expansion in Louisiana and, more specifically, the attempts of Peninsula Pacific to move their Diamond Jack's property from Bossier City.

Sadow has referred to proposed legislation allowing casinos to move as far as 1,200 feet onto land as "amphibious" and would also okay the expansion to a maximum of over 3,000 "gaming seats."

In referring to Peninsula Pacific's desire to move Diamond Jack's, Sadow, in a recent Minden Press Herald article, has this to say:

...assuming that amphibious legislation makes it into law, that could change minds into believing a land-based DiamondJacks could survive at its present home. The property has plenty of space onto which to shift operations. That also would take the pressure off local government entities to pony up large inducements to stay.

The LSUS prof also says that state gaming legislation puts Louisiana at a competitive disadvantage against neighboring states like less-regulated Mississippi and Oklahoma.
