Deftones singer Chino Moreno is moonlighting again — this time with friend and Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. And a taste of what he’s been working on is now available online.

A five-song EP by the new Moreno/Lopez project, dubbed Crosses, can be downloaded for free, and all you need to do is visit the band’s official Facebook page.

Earlier this year, Moreno described the music by Crosses as “really minimal and soothing, and it’s sort of like the stuff I like listening to when I’m not screaming my head off.” There are no plans to play live, added Moreno, who wants to avoid the hype and expectations that accompanied his Team Sleep side project.

A high-quality upgrade of the Crosses EP also is available for $5. It’s believed that as many as 16 Crosses songs have been recorded, so an album release is likely.

Meanwhile, Moreno and his fellow Deftones will be performing at a series of festivals in August, including Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday and the Reading Festival in Berkshire, England, on Aug. 26.
