Don’t Be Alarmed, But Facebook Told Everyone You’re Dead
Has this bizarre message popped up on your profile?
Over the weekend, I stumbled across a post from one of my friends posts on my timeline. She was informing everyone that she is very much alive and not dead. Of course, I knew that she was fine, but for those who swear that Facebook is the great eye in the sky, this could have come as a bit of a shock.
“We hope people who love Lauren will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate her life."
That was the message displayed across her profile. Now, I know it was a long and rough week for many people after the election, but come on Mark Zuckerberg. According to the New York Times, Facebook acknowledged that there was a glitch in their system and the message was sent out in error. They also assured their customers affected by this glitch that they worked as quickly as possible to fix it.
The real kicker here? Even Zuckerberg was announced as deceased thanks to this error.
