New Orleans super-group Down has apparently reconvened at Phil Anselmo’s studio, the infamous Nodferatu’s Lair, to begin writing some new material for the band’s follow-up to their “Purple” E.P.

Over the weekend, Anselmo posted some photos on Instagram of himself, guitarist Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein and drummer Jimmy Bower hammering down at his home rehearsal space. However, there was no sign of bassist Patrick Bruders who reportedly resigned from his role in both Down and Crowbar nearly two weeks ago.

Recent interviews with Anselmo speculate that Down could be releasing a new E.P. sometime early next year. According to the band’s official website, aside from an October 25 performance at Emo’s in Austin, Texas, Down is not scheduled to perform until February, when they will play the Soundwave Festival in Australia.

So, will the new Down record be done by then? Man, we sure hope so!
