Bossier Parish Community College and the Cavalier Players announce the cast and crew for the vampire thriller, DRACULA.

Dr. Ray Scott Crawford will direct the show, which is scheduled for performances at BPCC’s Performing Arts Theatre on October 17,18,19,23,24,25,26 at 7:30 p.m. There will also be performances on October 20 & 27 at 2:00 p.m.

In this macabre melodrama Lucy Seward, whose father is the doctor in charge of an English sanatorium, has been attacked by some mysterious illness. Dr. Van Helsing, a specialist who’s been called in by Dr. Sewerd, believes that the girl is the victim of a vampire, a ghostly being that goes about at night sucking blood from its victims. The vampire is found to be a certain Count Dracula, and Van Helsing vows to end the fiend’s existence on earth. Dr. Ray Scott Crawford, Dean of Communication and Performing Arts will direct the play.

Set design is by David White. Rona Leber is designing costumes, Keith Bruce is designing lights, Jonathon Offut will design props. All are faculty and/or staff of BPCC. Theatre students Matt Lorenz and Grady Savant are stage managing. The cast features BPCC Performing Arts Theatre degree as well as other students. Sam Copeland will play the Transylvanian Count Dracula. Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, cunning nemesis to the vampire, will be portrayed by Jesse Kortus.

Taylor Green, a first-year theatre student, will play Lucy Seward, the wistful victim and intended eternal bride of the Count. Tegan Godfrey will play Jonathan Harker, the passionate young lawyer who is engaged to Lucy. Sam Condon will play Dr. Seward, Lucy’s father who owns the sanatorium across from Dracula’s London mansion. Austin Jennings is cast as the lunatic, Reinfield; Elise Birmingham will play the skiddish maid, Miss Wells; and Johnny Marley will portray the frustrated attendant of the sanatorium. Residents of the sanitorium and minions to Dracula include Brittanie Custer, Ryan Thompson, Lari Leber, Jamie Johnstone, Lauren Rogers, Dalton Witte, Allison Miller, Keiandre Harper, Ardesya Haley, Jay Allen, Denise Dalton, Conner Snow, Robin Carlisle, Bregon Webb, Elizabeth Jones, and Luke Digilormo.

Crawford states, “Dracula has probably been our most-requested play over the past few years. I believe the renewed interest in movies and on television of “all things un-dead” has helped perpetuate an audience for the perennial vampire tale. And, of course, our students are thrilled to produce this sexy, suspenseful, and sometimes downright silly melodrama. ”
