Additional Information

In an effort to protect children from preventable diseases, Shots for Tots will host a community clinic at Holiday Lanes in Bossier City on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The Shots for Tots mobile unit will offer juvenile immunizations including flu shots from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. At this clinic only, flu shots will also be available for adults. Holiday Lanes, recently recognized by the American Heart Association as a gold award fit-friendly worksite, will give a free game of bowling for all children who receive vaccinations that day.

With flu season approaching, Leslie Smith, Shots for Tots program coordinator, says the best way to prevent flu is by getting a flu vaccine each year. “It is very important for children, senior citizens and pregnant women to be vaccinated,” she explained. “Flu can be very dangerous for children, so we also urge caregivers and those in direct contact with infants to receive a flu shot.”

Shots for Tots, a community service of Willis-Knighton Health System, provides immunizations, immunization scheduling and consulting by a program nurse. Vaccines are provided through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program. Children through 18 years of age who meet at least one of the following criteria are eligible to receive VFC vaccines through Shots for Tots: Medicaid eligible, uninsured, underinsured, American Indian or Alaska Native.
