A Louisiana parish has done exactly what most people over the age of thirty have been wanting to do for years: they’ve made baggy pants illegal.

According to the Associated Press, a Jefferson Davis Parish Police Jury recently ruled that it is unlawful for a person to wear pants that hang down below the waist -- revealing skin or underwear.

Consideration for the ban gained attention earlier this year after parish courthouse employees began complaining about seeing people’s underwear and various body parts while at work. The issue struck a nerve with juror Byron Buller who suggested that rather than enforce the ban in only the courthouse, it should be illegal across the entire parish – making it indecent and lewd behavior for anyone to show off their underwear in public.

The measure received final approval on Wednesday. Now, anyone caught violating the new ordinance will receive a penalty of $50 for their first offense and $100 for every following offense.
