Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the response to the city's "blight" problem, i.e., dilapidated housing, trash and litter and tall grass.

The Mayor tells KEEL listeners that all areas of Shreveport, economics aside, get the same service when it comes to clean-up: "We don't have a preference. We don't look at zip codes. We look at the needs." Tyler adds that the city could do a better job "if we can get everybody on board."

Tyler also talks about a recently appointed task force, headed by Director of Economic Development Arlena Acree. "We've enlisted a whole lot of people - neighborhood associations, businesses, professional associations - people from throughout the city. We need to take care of our city, be proud of where we live. We're trying to instill pride and asking folks to be responsible."
