Some Louisiana patients waiting on legal, cannabis-based medicines to become available next month may now have to wait until January.  GB Sciences Louisiana, one of 2 licensed marijuana growers in the state, has had such a difficult time finding an independent lab to test their products it has pushed their timetable back two months.

According to U.S. News and World Report, the extracted compounds were collected from the marijuana crop on Wednesday for testing.  The samples will be ready to be sent away for testing in approximately 2 week.  They will them be sent to a lab to be tested according to the standards set by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, the government agency tasked with regulating legal pot.  Once received, the rigorous testing should take about 6 weeks.  The LDAF is making sure the cannabis extracts are clear of any pesticides, contaminants, or heavy metals.

Until an independent lab can be found that meets the LDAF's strict requirements, the state will test the marijuana products.
