Back in March, Metallica promised a stage design that was “mind-blowing” and “sick as f—” on their upcoming tour. But while much of their stage might be something Metallica fans have never seen before, there will be a blast from their past. Addicted To Vinyl is reporting that the band’s newsletter announced that they will resurrect the “Snake Pit” on their upcoming tour.

ATV posted the following message from the band’s newsletter:

As you may have heard, the theme of our summer trek through Europe is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of the Black Album by playing it in its entirety at all 16 shows. And what would a tour of the Black Album be without a snake pit???? For those of you who were with us almost 20 years ago for the summer of ’92-’93 tours, you might recall that diamond shaped pit extending from the middle of the stage, well it’s baccccckkkk for our little summer vacation!

The Snake Pit, which held between 150 and 200 fans a night, was used on their tour supporting the ‘Black Album.’ It was created as a way for Metallica to remain close to their audience as their popularity skyrocketed. Metallica’s website has all the information as to how members of their official fan club are eligible to win passes into the Snake Pit.
