Capturing a piece of your childhood can be difficult.  One of the most common and effective ways is to achieve this is to hang a memento on the wall of your home or office.  It could be a shelf with an action figure, a lunch box, doll, or a poster / work of art depicting an icon from your younger days.  If you were really into Winnie the Pooh (the anthropomorphic teddy bear created by English author A. A. Milne), you just missed your chance to do just that with an incredibly unique map that surely leads back to the first time you heard the story.

Illustrator E.H. Shepard was asked in 1926 to bring some of the concepts children's story to life.  The map was printed inside the cover of the first book featuring Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga and Roo  - and was also featured as the opening shot of the 1966 Walt Disney classic Winnie the Pooh.  CNN reports that the map was appraised at a generous $200,000, and hasn't been seen by the public for 50 years.  The most famous map in children's literature final sale price not only exceeded the appraisal - it smashed the record for the largest amount of money ever spent on a book illustration, bringing in a whopping $570,000 at the Sotheby's auction earlier this week!

Sorry if you missed out, but there's a silver lining!  Amazon has a giant colorized wall sticker of the map for less than $20.
