It takes a lot to make seasoned gamers squeamish, but this clip from the just-released game Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will make even the most hardcore cringe.

[Spoilers]

In the scene, the game's protagonist Big Boss/Snake (now voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) is headed back to his headquarters (Mother Base) after rescuing two young detainees -- a young boy Chico and Paz --  from a US-Cuban facility where they were imprisoned.

Noticing Paz's blood-covered uniform, Chico discovers fresh stitches on her stomach; she was recently operated on. The crew discovers that a bomb was planted inside her -- one the medic onboard must quickly remove without anesthesia.

What follows is a grueling, hard-to-watch sequence that alone justifies the game's M rating. The medic reaches inside her stomach with his hands (Snake during this scene: "Keep her gut in!") to remove the crudely-placed explosive device.

If you can make it through the video below without wincing, you're more hardcore than us.
