Red River Parish students are getting an early start to the weekend because of Mother Nature.

Superintendent Alison Hughes has decided to dismiss classes early on Friday after conferring with the National Weather Service and the Homeland Security Office. The Superintendent says "we have decided to dismiss schools early today.  We want to make sure that our children are not on the highways or in harm’s way when the forecasted severe weather arrives in our area.  We thank you for your help and understanding in this early dismissal process."

Red River Elementary School will dismiss at 11:45.  Red River Junior High School, Red River High School, and Springville will dismiss at noon.

Hughes urges all residents to be on alert as the severe weather moves through and encourages residents to stay safe.
