For music fans looking for a good cause to get behind, the annual ‘Ride for Dime’ event is just around the corner scheduled for Aug. 16 and 17 in Texas. With events scheduled in both Fort Worth and Dallas, friends, fans and family members will all join forces to remember Pantera guitarist “Dimebag" Darrell Abbott with a motorcycle ride followed by two nights of great music.

The two-day event kicks off on Aug. 16 at The Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas with a night of music including Drowning Pool, Hellbound ‘A Tribute to Pantera,’ and more.

The actual “Ride” part of the event is scheduled for Aug. 17. Riders will meet at Longhorn Harley Davidson in Grand Prairie and kickstands up at 5PM. This year’s route will pass by Dime and Rita’s house and past the cemetery where Abbott rests to honor the life and legacy of the guitar great. A $20 donation is all it takes to join the trek.

The ride will be followed by another night of great music at Trees in Dallas with Shadows Fall, Texas Hippie Coalation and Thy Will be Done among the bands to hit the stage.

‘Ride for Dime’ is a non-profit organization formed in 2010 to honor the legacy of Dimebag, who was slain onstage during a performance in 2004.

For fans not in Texas, donations are accepted on the Ride for Dime website here. All proceeds go directly to the charities supported by Ride for Dime. There are also many additional chapters of Ride for Dime including groups in Philadelphia, Chicago, Florida and Nashville that fans can get involved in.
