The Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey Club has been on FIRE this year. As a team. they won the South in the regular season, they defeated the defending Robertson Cup Champions to be crowned in the South Division in the playoffs and now they are in Minnesota battling it out to win their first NAHL championship.

Individually, the team has been amazing as well. Captain Dom Procopio won several post season honors including South Division Defenseman of the year. Several of the guys have committed to some big time, Division I colleges for next season. The list of honors is nothing short of amazing.

However, being that good sometimes does have its draw backs. Several standout 'Baby Bugs' were drafted into the USHL. For those that don't know...the USHL is pretty much the highest level of competitive hockey you can play without being committed to a major college or being drafted into the NHL.

Nikolai Jenson (4th Round-Youngstown), Cole Quisenberry (7th Round-Omaha), Matt Webber (10th Round-Fargo) were all taken in the USHL draft. However, before we say our goodbyes, this doesn't necessarily mean the guys are gone.

This just means that if these young and hungry hockey players decide to play in the USHL, those teams have their rights. However, they could decide to stay in Shreveport and keep playing for the Bugs. Either way, a huge congratulations is in order!
