Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bittner will once again take a seat behind the drum kit for Anthrax, something he has done multiple times over the years, making his face and his footwork a familiar site to ‘Thrax fans. Bittner will be filling in for Anthrax rhythm keeper Charlie Benante for the first few weeks of this summer’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.

According to Blabbermouth, Benante has been sidelined by a minor hand injury and therefore can’t play, so it’s Bittner to the rescue.

Mayhem kicked off on Saturday, June 30 in San Bernardino, California. Check out our review of the first show here.

Bittner last replaced Benante in February 2012 for a pair of shows in Argentina. He also came to the rescue back in January 2006 when Benante had to leave a tour due to the fact that his lovely wife Sandra gave birth to their first child, a daughter, Mia.

Loudwire wishes Benante a full and speedy recovery. However, if there is anyone best suited hold it down in Benante’s absences, it’s none other than Jason Bittner!
