Shreveport High School Makes Top 10 List of Louisiana Schools
The latest US News and World Report nationwide rankings for high schools are in, and the Bayou State brought home some hardware! All-in-all Louisiana received 4 gold, 13 silver and 77 bronze medals in this annual coast to coast comparison of over 20,500 high schools. The schools are judged on college preparedness, how well their students perform on assessment tests (ACT, PSAT, SAT, etc.), and several other factors that center on ready they get students ready for the next step on the path to higher education.
It's no surprise that Caddo Parish Magnet High School scored very well in this competition. CPMHS excelled in the student participation, AP (Advanced Placement) test scores, percentage of graduates going to college departments. The school ranked 6th in the state and brought home a silver medal nationally. Their official scorecard in this ranking shows some pretty impressive reasons why: 81% of students who take the AP tests pass it, the student-to-teacher ration is 14:1 (much better that the last measured state average of 20:1), and their reading and math proficiency is at 99%!
