Several of the schools in the MLK neighborhood have been needing help for years.  Overcrowding is an issue everywhere, but when you couple that the aging facility students and teachers were sharing - it becomes very evident that a change is necessary.  That's why pretty much everyone involved is excited about the recent influx of funds.

My ArkLaTex Homepage is reporting that Superintendent Dr. Lamar Goree held a meeting to bring the community up to speed on the changes.  The upgraded facilities, designed to help students and teachers alike, will bring much more room and a new gym into the equation, and that equals a win for everyone involved.  It came just in time too, when teachers are forced to share classrooms and you're dealing with overcrowding and crumbling buildings - students are getting the most out of school.

Next up on the list is what to do with the now empty Northside Elementary School.
