As I'm sure aware by now, Seattle's purveyors of Sonic Destruction are back - with a few reunion shows last year, a new album in the works (due out in 2012), and a new tour that kicked off Saturday night in Toronto (Soundgarden headlines the Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans on Halloween weekend).

The band has been on "extended hiatus" since 1997 - never officially breaking up - but the members of the band haven't become musically rusty.  Singer Chris Cornell has been busy with solo work and a few years with Audioslave, and drummer Matt Cameron has been behind the kit for Pearl Jam during Soundgarden's down time.

If there was any doubt as to whether SG can still bring the noise, the following videos from the opening night of the tour should put your mind at ease:

Blow Up The Outside World

Black Hole Sun
