Storms ripped through the Ark-La-Tex this weekend, leaving a trail of destruction right through the Shreveport / Bossier City area.  As you drive west to east on I-20 through town, you can see storm damage has affected several billboards and traffic signs as a tell tale sign high winds have roared through the area.  The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado is indeed responsible for some of the damage, although dangerous, straight-line winds and hail have caused quite a bit of destruction as well.

The ArkLaTex Homepage reports that the Bossier Parish Police Jury highway department crews will start cleaning up debris at 8 am on Monday morning.  Police Jury President Glenn Benton signed an emergency declaration early Saturday morning that directs workers to move from neighborhood to neighborhood collecting storm debris that residents have collected from their property and stacked by the road.  The crews will start clean-up in the Country Place subdivision, then plan to move on to other areas in need as soon as possible.  Officials expect to remove quite a bit of large limbs and the remains of trees damaged in the storm.

Residents who have any questions about the clean-up should call the police jury highway department at (318) 965-3752 after 8 am Monday morning.
