The number 13.   The superstitious  try to avoid bad luck by keeping away from anything numbered or labelled thirteen. Something tells me though, not even superstition will keep untold thousands from descending on New Orleans City Park Halloween weekend for the 13th edition of the Voodoo Music Experience...

A festival that started in 1999 as a one day event in Tad Gormley Stadium, with an attendance of about 8,000 - Voodoo is now one of the premier festival events in the country, drawing acts like Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Green Day, KISS,  and Rage Against the Machine to the main stage.

This year, all I really needed to know is that Soundgarden is set to headline one of the three nights.  Their only festival appearance this year, and one of their few concert dates remaining in 2011.  Sold.
But rest assured, there will be much more to revel in than the grunge rockers from Seattle - other headliners include Blink 182, Snoop Dogg, My Chemical Romance, and the Raconteurs.

The entire line was announced this morning...click here for the complete line-up, schedules, and ticket infomation.

If you've attended Voodoo in the past, this year there are some notable changes:

- New for 2011 - Voodoo is  permitting people to bring in collapsible chairs and flags.  Chairs will only be allowed in designated areas and will not effect the general admission area in front of stages.

- Also new for 2011 -  a ferris wheel and rides!

- Kids under 10 get in free with paid adult.  There is even a family area called VooBOO with kids rides, sandbox, a rock and roll hair salon and a message tent for parents.

- There's also e a new blog with all the latest updates http://jointheritual.wordpress.com/

And don't forget, you can WIN 3-Day Passes to The Voodoo Music Experience, Hotel in New Orleans for the weekend, and cold, hard, cash  by entering the 99X-Phoenix Underground Freak Show!  Click here to upload a photo of you in your Halloween costume (past or present) for your chance to win!
