When someone with a spouse and children serve in the military, so does their family. Not in the same capacity, obviously, but it's just as hard. that's why the folks at The Warrior Network are throwing a celebration for the little soldiers, airmen, and marines that are left "defending the home-front" when mom and/or dad are shipped overseas.

April is Month of the Military Child, and to recognize children of local military families, The Warrior Network, in partnership with the Northwest Louisiana Military Support Foundation, will host its second annual KidFest event Saturday, April 29, 2017. The event will take place from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM in the Pierre Bossier Mall parking lot, with a one-mile fun run beginning at 10:30 AM. Military families from all branches of service are invited to attend.

A press release from The Warrior Network tells us more about this great family event:

Everything from static displays (including a Blackhawk helicopter) to game booths will be provided by local churches and businesses, as well as inflatables, free food, a dunk tank, petting zoo, candy and demonstrations. Children will be able to meet Clawed the Mudbug, get their own personalized dog tags, see an Air Force Security Forces K-9 and EOD robot and much more. There will be attractions for both preschool and school-age children. Over 100 community volunteers will serve our military members at this event.

Last year, more than 1,500 people were in attendance and this year promises to be even bigger. Cosse & Silmon Orthodontics, Barksdale Federal Credit Union, Litton Mortgage, Tammi Montgomery Real Estate Experts, Virginia College, Trinity Sports USA, and Pyromania Fireworks are just some of the KidFest sponsors this year. Several local churches, organizations and businesses are also partnering together to make this fun family event possible. Candy donations are currently being accepted at any local Barksdale Federal Credit Union branch.

Pre-registration is not necessary; however, Military IDs will be checked upon entrance. All information about KidFest can be found at www.thewarriornetwork.org/kidfest.
