An 11-year-old boy driving a pickup in Webster Parish has died in a single vehicle crash.

State Police responded to a crash on LA 802 about 2.5 miles east of US 371 early Saturday morning.  Troopers report the 1993 Ford Ranger pick-up truck driven by 11-year-old Clark James Davis was heading at a high rate of speed on LA 802, when the pickup ran off the road and hit a tree.

Davis was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The child was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner’s Office.  No one else was in the pickup at the time of the crash.

Impairment is not suspected.  Speed is suspected to be a factor in this crash.  The crash remains under investigation. There's no information on why the child was driving the truck.

In 2018, Troop G has investigated 3 fatal crashes resulting in 3 deaths.
