WalletHub has just released its annual list of the Best Big Cities To Live In.  Surprise! Shreveport's not on it.  But, let's be fair.  The study only looked at the 62 largest U.S. cities and Shreveport is not one of those.  Only one city in Louisiana is on the list and that's New Orleans which came in at #49 right between Houston and Oakland, CA, which aren't exactly the garden spots of the country.

The 2017 study looked at the 62 largest U.S. cities and ranked them based on 50 "key indicators of attractiveness."   Among those keys are quality of public school system to crime rate to housing costs.

So what's the best big city in which to live in the U.S.?  It's Virginia City, VA.  The last on the list is, not surprisingly, Detroit, MI.

The city with the lowest housing costs in the country is Wichita, KS.  The most expensive housing in America is in Miami.

The city with the lowest crime rate?  Virginia Beach, VA.  The most crime?  St. Louis, MO.

The city with the highest percentage of inhabitants aged 25 or older with at least a high school diploma is Seattle, WA.  The city with the lowest percentage is Santa Ana, CA.

In New Orleans' case, the Big Easy ranks 20th in Quality of Life but 55th in Economy and 58th in Education and Health.
