I came to know of the Northwest Louisiana organization, Pick It Forward, several years ago when they were putting on a fundraiser bass tournament that I was asked to emcee.

I couldn't wait to help out after meeting the President and Founder, Jamie Jett, and seeing her untiring dedication to orphans of our area. She just reeks of goodness and the things she's been able to provide these less fortunate kids here in our area have been nothing short of miraculous.

The Pick It Forward website best explains their mission for these kids:

Our plan is to be physically present at orphanages on an ongoing basis and to participate in foster care programs to monitor our financial support and to better determine how we can improve the facilities and support the children as they hopefully find a loving adoptive home. We’ve already seen how we can make a difference, and our journey has just begun.

We had this year's bass tournament for the organization just a couple of months ago and it was a huge success, but the need for financial aid is never ending, so Jamie and her staff have come up with another incredible idea.

It's a three day garage sale with all benefits going to these kids and a few projects that Pick It Forward would like to support including: a transitional home for foster children in NW Louisiana, scholarships for foster children to participate in Making A New Way, and the Pick It Forward for Orphans mission trip in February.  Monies will also be used to provide staff at orphanages, food, VBS, activities and much more for these children.

It will run from 9:00 am until 6:30 pm on Thursday and Friday, September 30 and October 1 and again from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 2 at 8617 Woodlake Drive in Haughton and will only feature gently used items and items that work.

Pick It Forward is currently in the collection mode of the sale and if you would like to donate items to this incredibly worthwhile organization just call or text Jamie Jett at 318-707-3070.
