If you think life was rough trying to find toilet paper in March and April of 2020, imagine you are in need of health care and you can't find a nurse.

That is getting to be a real possibility as the extremely high volume of COVID patients are taxing what is already a near "crisis level" in regards to a nursing shortage. And now, we can add to that the fact that over five hundred Ochsner Health employees, one of Louisiana's largest health care providers, have recently tested positive for COVID and are in quarantine.

According to a video from KLFY, five hundred twenty Ochsner employees have tested positive for COVID and are self isolating.

The charlotteobserver reports:

Coronavirus vaccinations are optional for Ochsner employees, and those who haven’t gotten the shot are required to wear an N-95 mask during their shift, according to the hospital’s CEO. Unvaccinated workers must also be tested for COVID on a weekly basis.

It's one thing to have to wait longer than normal to get a seat at your favorite restaurant, or for your vehicle to get a new set of tires, because of a lack of employees, but it's a completely different story when it comes to the response time and care we want and need, in regards to our health.

When you consider the overall lack of staffing for most industry, it's alarming, but when it comes to health care, and the fact that all our overall welfare comes into question in regards to quality of care, we are talking true emergency.

Get well Ochsner, we are depending on you!
