Michelle Hall of Vernon Parish loves her home state of Louisiana, and all the dear family she has here. But, like any mother, she loves her daughter Ella more, and will do whatever it takes to see her needs are met.  And that is why the Halls now live in Colorado.  It's where they had to go to get Ella the marijuana based medication to treat her seizure disorder.  And in this, the Halls are not alone.  Mrs. Hall says she knows of "at least a dozen" other Louisiana families who have moved to Colorado to get their children the medicine they need.

And that is why she stood before the legislature and begged them to make marijuana based medicine available here so she can bring her children home.  "Im begging you, please pass this law so we can come home to my family.", said Hall.

As we've previously reported, lawmakers are currently considering a bill that would expand the types of disorders eligible for treatment with marijuana based medicine here in our state.  Mrs. Hall said Ella is thriving since she began taking the cannabis medicine in Colorado, and that it has helped her more than any other drug they've tried in the last four years.  She added it is not in any way a treatment that makes her daughter 'high', its simply a medication that works. "I want to come home to my family, I shouldn't have to live in another state.", said Mrs. Hall.

Maybe stories like this, involving real people with real problems, that want more than anything to come home to Louisiana, and still be able to give their children the medicine they need, will help drag our legislature into the 21st century.  One can only hope.
