Authorities in Baton Rouge have identified a man who was found dead in his vehicle, after it was caught in flood waters. The victim was found, after water receded, in his vehicle as a pile of abandoned cars were being pulled apart on Bluebonnet Boulevard.

Officials say that the body of 33-year-old Justin Blaine Thompson was discovered as tow trucks were separating a pile of vehicles that were swept up by flood waters. The mass of cars were found near the Mall of Louisiana. All of the other cars in the pile were abandoned, according to authorities.

WBRZ-TV reports that the area near an underpass on Bluebonnet Boulevard was one of many roadways impacted by heavy flooding Monday night. That included sections of I-10 that had to be closed due to water on the roadways.

Additionally, WBRZ-TV says that 3 others are dead in the Baton Rouge area after last nights storms. One of those individuals died when a vehicle went off the road and ended up in a canal, one of the passengers from that same vehicle went into the water to save the deceased, and remains missing.

In addition to the flooding in the Baton Rouge area, Lake Charles saw historic rainfall yesterday. The National Weather Service reports that yesterday's rainfall totals were the third largest in Lake Charles' history. The city's Mayor, Nic Hunter, says residents of Lake Charles are facing their fourth natural disaster in less than a year. It was less than 265 days since Hurricane Laura devastated the city, only to have Hurricane Delta come behind it a month later. Then the historic winter storm that pounded the region earlier this year. Now this historic rainfall, that will likely continue through the week.
