A second local girl has been arrested for making serious threats on Instagram through an account that included the word "clown."

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington says the 14-year-old set up a fake Instagram account using a fictitious name that kept with the current trend involving creepy clowns that's been sweeping the state.

"Sadly, this is not an isolated incident in our area. It's a worldwide fashion trend that can lead to illegal behavior if it leads to threats," Whittington said. "Sorry to say, it's catching on here. I want everyone to understand that what you do on a social media platform is not private, it is very public. If it's illegal, we will find you. It's our duty. We're very serious about this."

The sheriff asks parents to have serious conversations with their children about what they post on social media. "This is not child's play, and we must take it very seriously," he said. "As we have all seen, threats by schoolchildren are not kid stuff anymore."
