Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, System of a Down Members + More Join Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington Memorial Show
If you love Linkin Park and are anywhere near the Los Angeles area, the band's recently announced Hollywood Bowl show celebrating the memory of late co-vocalist Chester Bennington was one you didn't want to miss. But further ensuring that this will be one of the can't miss shows of the fall, some of the performers who will be joining Linkin Park have been revealed.
So far, those confirmed to join Linkin Park on Oct. 27 include Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows and Synyster Gates, Korn's Jonathan Davis, System of a Down's Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan, the members of Blink-182, Bring Me the Horizon's Oli Sykes, Yellowcard's Ryan Key, Machine Gun Kelly and recent duet partner Kiiara. Each of the musicians tweeted their participation in the event, which can be viewed below.
The band will take over the Hollywood Bowl for this special performance on Oct. 27, marking their first time onstage since the death of Bennington in July. There are a number of pre-sales that are currently underway. Learn more about that here. Meanwhile, the public on-sale starts at 10AM PT via Ticketmaster tomorrow (Sept. 22) at this location.
Earlier this week, Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda revealed that it was producer Rick Rubin who had encouraged them to return to the stage. Shinoda told local station KROQ, "[Rubin] said, ‘I know you guys know this, and I know it’s obvious because I know you’re looking at social media and stuff, I think you guys need to get onstage. I think that’s going to be the thing that will feel good. It will be super super hard.’”
He continued, "We haven’t gone out together in public, we haven’t played or gone onstage. He said, ‘The fans want to see you, but most importantly not because they want to see a show, but because there’s a cathartic experience that needs to happen. I think it’ll inform what you guys are doing.’ I thought it over, and I know that for some of the guys in the band, getting onstage is more scary than other guys in the band. But I will say that for all of us, it’s definitely the thing we want to do.”
