Beastie Boys’ Adam Horovitz Reacts to Death of Adam Yauch
Tributes have been pouring in from around the globe following Friday’s (May 4) death of Beastie Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch, and bandmate Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz has been extremely moved by all of them. In an entry on the Beastie Boys’ blog posted Sunday night, Horovitz took time to show his appreciation to his friends and family during his time of mourning and thank everybody for all the respect shown to Yauch following the sad news of his passing after a three-year battle with cancer.
From the numerous Twitter tributes from both fans and fellow musicians to musical tributes from the likes of Coldplay, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and beyond, the outpouring of grief and respect paid to Yauch has been immense. Horovitz certainly appreciates it, and he writes:
as you can imagine, s— is just f— up right now. but i wanna say thank you to all our friends and family (which are kinda one in the same) for all the love and support. i’m glad to know that all the love that Yauch has put out into the world is coming right back at him.
thank you.
Yauch passed away Friday after battling cancer in his parotid gland and a lymph node. The Beastie Boys’ website posted a lengthy statement regarding his death on Friday afternoon, but Horovitz’s blog post was the first message from a single member of the band.
