It's looking like it's not the weekend to be in a hurry traveling through Bossier City.
As we previously noted earlier this week, tomorrow (Saturday, March 26) through Sunday, LA 72, which is Old Minden Road, just south of I-20, will be closed at the railroad crossing so that KCS crews can work on that crossing.

Then on Monday, March 28, from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is advising all motorists that a portion of LA 782-2, which is Industrial Drive in Bossier City, will be closed.  That closure is also necessary so that KCS crews can work on the railroad crossing.  That one promises to be somewhat problematic for Air Force personnel accustomed to entering Barksdale through the East Gate.

But Wait, There's More

And we've just learned that we'll have another Bossier traffic issue that is scheduled to begin at 9:00 this morning. (Friday, March 25)

According to the Bossier Parish Police Jury, if you normally travel LA Hwy. 3, which is Benton Road, in the area around I-220 in Bossier City, you might want to take an alternate route this weekend.
Work is scheduled to begin on a project to increase volume for turn lanes off LA Hwy. 3 (Benton Rd.) onto I-220, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Work On This Is Scheduled To Begin This Morning

Beginning at 9:00 this morning and continuing through Monday, March 28 at 6:00 am, the LA 3 northbound left turn lane to westbound I-220 will be closed to allow crews to work on the southbound left lane at the westbound entrance ramp to I-220.
Additionally, the LA Hwy. 3 southbound left lane will be closed from Hospital Drive to I-220.
Officials said the entire project, which is managed by the Bossier Police Jury, is anticipated to wrap up later this summer, weather permitting.
Traffic studies have shown roughly 30 percent of the driving population of Bossier Parish travels through the intersection, both north and southbound, Monday through Friday mornings and afternoons, so this one will sting a little.
District 6 Police Jury member Chris Marsiglia said the project will hopefully be finished before the state begins rehabilitation of I-20 through Bossier City.
