It is almost surreal to think that this Sunday, September 11, will mark twenty one years since the day our world stood still.

On September 11, 2001, as we all watched with disbelief as those planes hit the towers of the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Arlington and the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania, we made a vow to never forget.

Blanchard, Louisiana is making good on that vow! This Sunday, in honor of that dreaded day, and to benefit the area's first responders, they'll hold the Holy Smokers BBQ Cookoff.

Barbecue? Where And When?

The event will run from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Blanchard Polk Salad Pavilion in downtown Blanchard.

Along with the friendly competition of some of the best barbecuers around, the event will feature live music, family fun and some amazing food.

And that food will be for sale with all proceeds to benefit those first responders.

If you haven't already made plans for lunch after church Sunday, this is just the ticket to fill your belly and fill your heart.
