Tragic Ending to Story of Missing Toddler in Baton Rouge
The body of a 2-year-old little girl from Baton Rouge has been found in Mississippi. Her stepfather has been arrested and will likely face charges in connection to her death.
2-year-old Nevaeh Allen was last seen on Friday afternoon when she was in her families apartment while her stepfather says he had been taking a nap. When other children returned home from school, the little girl was gone.
Her body was found Sunday near Pearlington, Mississippi in Hancock County.
Nevaeh’s body is expected to be turned over to Louisiana authorities for an autopsy to try to determine the cause of death.
Baton Rouge police and the FBI spent two days searching for Allen.
30-year-old Phillip Gardner has been arrested. At this time, he faces charges of unlawful disposal of human remains and obstruction of justice. But he could ultimately face other charges in connection to the toddles death.
Family members told The Advocate:
That Gardner and the baby’s mother, Lanaya Cardwell, had a “toxic relationship” that was marked by violence, sometimes involving the child.
