Local Law Enforcement to Hold DWI Checkpoint Friday in Bossier
The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office has announced plans to hold a DWI checkpoint this weekend.
Unfortunately, even in 2023, with numerous ways to find a safe way home, people still tend to overindulge and get behind the wheel without regard for their safety or the safety of others. Remember, it's never okay to drink and drive. Always make sure that before you start your 'celebrations' you have a sober driver lined up or a ridesharing app ready to go on your phone.
The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office has scheduled a DWI checkpoint starting on Friday, March 31st, 2023, at 9 pm and running through Saturday morning, April 1st, 2023, at an undisclosed location. The campaign is a concerted effort to get impaired drivers off our roads and protect Bossier Parish and Louisiana families from the danger of drunk drivers. However, while they're targeting impaired driving, the checkpoint will not be limited to any one offense.
In addition to the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, other agencies like the Louisiana State Police, Bossier City Police Department, and the West
Monroe Police Department will be on hand to assist in the operation. In short, they're pulling out all the stops!
The funds to conduct the sobriety checkpoint are thanks to a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for DWI Enforcement.
Citizens are always encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers. The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office can be reached by calling (318) 965-2203 24 hours a day or residents can call 911 in case of an emergency.
