Nobody wants to work on a Sunday, but in my humble opinion, this is certainly the best day to halt traffic, if needed, and do bridge inspections.

Hats off to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, who will be working next Sunday, June 27, 2021, to avoid peak travel times on a week day, while they perform a routine bridge inspection.

Normally, an inspection of this nature wouldn't be much of an issue, but when it's on I-20, you're talking about a horse of another color.

Even though the DOTD is doing what they can, this could still potentially bring on some major slow-downs to westbound traffic, so if you normally travel this area, you might want to begin considering alternatives for this time.

We found on the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Facebook page that one lane of the I-20 Westbound bridge over the Union Pacific railroad tracks near Greenwood, Louisiana will be closed from 5:30 am until 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 27. This particular bridge is located approximately 2.2 miles west of LA 526.

The closure is necessary so that a routine bridge inspection can be performed.
