Another step forward for the plan to bring a new grocery store to southeast Shreveport.

The Brookshire's Grocery Company wants to open a store at the corner of Norris Ferry Road and the Southern Loop. Executives from Brookshire's held a community meeting to hear concerns from resident and they have agreed to tweak their plan to appease homeowners in the area.

The Shreveport City Council has ok'd the zoning plan for a large grocery store in that area. This is a planned 56 thousand square foot store. It would bring in at least 200 jobs to our community. There are still some traffic issues that have to be addressed and that is expected to happen before the site plan is approved by the Metropolitan Planning Commission.

This new store will be comparable to the Gucci Brookshire's on Line Avenue which is 55,000 square feet.

This new store will be in direct competition with the Kroger Marketplace store at Ellerbe and Flournoy Lucas which opened in late 2016.

This new Brookshire's is also expected to have a full pharmacy, a flower shop, a deli with fresh foods and much more. They will also have a staff dedicated to personal shopping for those who want to shop online and pick up their groceries at a dedicated time.
