I think we can all agree that we'd be sunk without our first responders. What would we do without firefighters to save our loved ones from fires or to pry survivors from car wrecks with the jaws of life? What would we do without EMS personnel working to keep folks medically stable until they can reach an emergency room? How about the law enforcement officer that runs daily into dangerous situations while most would run away? It's for these reasons and so many more that Shreveport Baptist Temple plans to honor our local first responders this Sunday.

Of course, in true church fashion, you can't honor someone unless you feed them, but I digress!

The public is invited to help celebrate all of our brave and selfless local first responders this Sunday, March 8th at Shreveport Baptist Temple for their 7th Annual First Responders Appreciation Day.

Local law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical service personnel are encouraged to wear their uniforms and will be honored along with their families at the service beginning at 10:30 am. Following the service, participants will be treated to a fish fry and desserts.

Shreveport Baptist Temple Pastor Howard Hall says, "Our police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel are very special people in our community, and we want to thank them and encourage them for serving and protecting all of us." Clearly, other leaders like Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, La. Rep. Alan Seabaugh and his wife, Laura Seabaugh all agree because they'll be on hand for the event as well. Thirty-year veteran firefighter and paramedic Tommy Neiman will also be a special guest, and each first responder will receive a copy of his book, “Sirens for the Cross.”

Shreveport Baptist Temple is located at 288 Flournoy-Lucas Road off of I-49. Questions? Call (318) 686-5538.
