We are just over a month away from Christmas and many folks are already gearing up to get the home ready for the holidays.

For many families, getting a live Christmas tree is a tradition. And in northwest Louisiana, you have several great options to find a tree. You can go out with the family and cut your own, or you can pick up one that's already cut and trimmed and ready to go in your home.

Last year was tough for some Christmas tree farmers with some diseases spreading among the trees resulting in a short supply. But the trees are back this year and the farmers are very hopeful this will be a busy year as folks get back to traditional celebrating with family gatherings.

Tree growers and retailers say this could be the best year they've seen in a while. But there is some concern inflation might force some families to scale back what they would normally buy for the holidays.

What Will the Average Christmas Tree Cost?

Last year, you paid about $81 dollars for a live tree, on average. Inflation will have an impact this year. Prices are expected to be up by about 20%. That means you will likely have to pay about $100 for a live tree this year.

Sellers are confident they have enough inventory of trees to keep up with the rising demand this year. But you are encouraged not to wait too late, or you might have limited options for your live tree choices.
