So far, there have been no cases of Coronavirus in Louisiana, but Dr. Martha Whyte, Medical Director for Region 7 of the Office of Public Health tells KEEL News it's probably already here, but no one has tested positive for the virus yet.

Dr. Whyte says the testing protocol is changing and more people will be tested, but she says the biggest concern is with people who have traveled.

Dr. Whyte says the Coronavirus is not airborne. She says this is called droplet spread. "That means bigger particles that drop when you cough or sneeze them out. So keeping that 6 feet distance helps. That is why hand washing is so important because it will be more what you touch unless someone coughs on you."
