FBI’s Current Top Ten Most Wanted
The FBI's Ten Most Wanted list was created in 1949 by Director J. Edgar Hoover and William Kinsey Hutchinson. Ever since it's inception, it has been a powerful tool used to help bring some of the most terrible criminals to justice. From news articles to signs in the post office, the list is used to generate leads and attention.
Criminals will remain on the list until they are captured or confirmed dead. The publicity from the list has caused several fugitives to turn themselves in instead of being hunted. According to the FBI stats (as of June 2020), of the criminals listed on the '10 Most Wanted List', 523 fugitives had been listed. Ten of those fugitives have been women. 489 of them were captured or located (93%) with 162 of them being brought to justice with public assistance.
