I'm a fan of anything our area does that addresses the needs of special needs children and the Field of Dreams Park in Bossier City does just that. The 2.5-acre park located on Hazel Jones Road features a gorgeous playground with a 'poured' play surface, trails, public restrooms, picnic tables, it's ADA accessible and it has a special challenger baseball field especially for children with special accommodations. While the park was originally built in the '90s, it received a facelift last year including the new state of the art play surface and wheelchair accessible equipment. The park was designed to serve ages from six months old to 12-years-old.

Now that you have the background on this amazing facility, here's why it's closing and for how long. Don't worry, the park is only closing for two short days to get a thorough cleaning and spruced up for it's close up! The park will be closed Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14, 2020, to prepare for a special photoshoot Thursday, October 15, 2020. The park will reopen this Friday, October 16th, 2020.

The photoshoot is being done for the company that installed the equipment and the photos will be used next year in the equipment manufacturer's magazine. Yep, folks from all over are going to see our gorgeous park right here in Bossier City! City of Bossier City Public Information Officer Traci Landry tells us that the Field of Dreams park is, 'the largest poured and play park in the state at 19,900 square feet.' No wonder people want to check it out! If you haven't seen it yet, you really should. Once it reopens of course!
