The face of Pierremont Mall on Line Avenue in Shreveport is changing again. The Stein Mart space on the north end of the mall is being converted into a fitness center.

Club4Fitness is renovating the property and is expected to be open within just a few weeks. The company has leased the anchor space formerly occupied by Stein Mart. There have been several reports of possible uses for the Stein Mart space. Even Trader Joe’s folks reportedly took a look at it about a year ago, but that deal never went very far.

Now the property will be turned into the CLUB4 Fitness, which is a chain of health clubs with 25 locations around the south from Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, and Louisiana.

The Stein Mart property is 32,000 square feet and crews have been busy getting the site ready for the new use.

The history of this property goes back to 1964 when the Selber Brothers built what was then called Lambert Mall. It was the first enclosed mall in Shreveport. Selber Brothers was the first tenant in that Stein Mart property.  It was their first store located outside of downtown Shreveport. The Shreveport family eventually sold to Dillards in 1987 and the Selber Brothers stores were closed.

Club4 has been in the process of hiring workers from the front desk to child care, personal trainers and group trainers.
