Free Microchip and Vaccination for Pets in Caddo This Weekend

Losing a pet is a mind-bending heartbreak.  Without the closure of knowing what happened, pet owners can continue the search for their furry best friend for a long time.  Thankfully, AVID Identification Systems came up with a pretty elegant solution back in 1985: Microchips.  These super-smart, subdermal databanks pretty much guarantee that if your pet is found and brought to a shelter or vet with a scanner - they're going home!

If you thought that the only thing that could make this technology better is if it was free - you're in luck!  According to the ArkLaTex Homepage, the microchipping and vaccinations for pets are free this weekend at Shreveport Southern Hills Community Center.  If you are a current resident of Caddo Parish, you can bring your furry best friend for free vaccinations and the amazing microchip that vastly increases your chances of finding if they ever get lost.

Qualifying residents will receive the free pet procedures on a first-come, first serve basis.  The event starts at 10:00 a.m. and lasts until 2:00 p.m, and welcomes dogs, cats, and ferrets.  Officials on hand will also reportedly educate the public on everything from heartworm prevention to mosquitoes, how to care for pets when the weather turns bad, and more.
